Many worship leaders have moved to simply leading worship by themselves on Sunday mornings.
So, the question is: How do you keep your worship team connected if they aren't leading worship on Sundays?
Well, first of all, make the effort to include your worship team in your online services.
Have them record themselves leading a song if they're able. OR have them participate in some other capacity - like praying or reading Scripture.
This is a great time to teach them that they can be worship leaders even if they don't have an instrument in their hands.
The other piece of connection is - not just doing ministry together - but building relationships.
Now is the time to focus on RELATIONSHIPS!
I suspect a lot of worship teams were always so busy preparing to lead musically that they never had time to just get to know each other.
Here are 3 gatherings you can have with your worship team to keep them connected during social distancing:
1 | Songwriting session
If you want to build relationships through music, host an online songwriting session.
Give your team advance notice and have them come up with some lyrics. Then, get together on Zoom and share the ideas.
Think of songwriting as a team building exercise where you learn how to better communicate with each other.
By the end of the session, not only will your team be strengthened, you might even have a new song for your church!
2 | Pre-service prayer
Let your team know they still have a purpose on Sunday mornings!
You were probably praying with your team before your services every Sunday before you led. You can still do that even though things are online.
Hop on a video call before your Sunday service and pray for it with your team!
3 | Game night
Just treat your team like they're your friends!
Schedule a time to virtually hang out for the sole purpose of having fun and building relationships.
This is the piece that was so easy to miss when we were meeting in purpose and constantly preparing for our physical gatherings.
So, utilize this time to simply build relationships with your team!
