3 Pro Tips For Creating Online Content For Your Church

Have you noticed the shift yet? Pastors, worship leaders, and staff members have become CONTENT CREATORS as churches have moved online.

It's been really interesting for me to see that shift as someone who has been creating online content for the past 3 years.

The truth is: creating online content has a learning curve. I've made plenty of mistakes along the way (and I'm probably STILL making mistakes).

So, I want to share 3 tips that I've learned over the past 3 years for worship leaders who now find themselves thrust into the position of content creator.

Here are 3 pro tips for creating online content for your church:

1 | Perfectionism will ruin your ability to consistently create

Perfectionism is a fool's errand.

Nothing you ever create will be perfect - it's an unachievable goal.

And for us artistic types, we usually don't want to release anything until it's perfect. So, we keep working on it... and working on it... inching our way closer and closer to our perceived measure of perfection but never achieving it. And thus, never releasing what we've created.

So, I want to ask you: what have you been trying to perfect that you just need to post?

Here's a general rule of thumb: your 80% is everyone else's 100%.

That means that when your project/video/song reaches 80% perfection - it's ready to release because everyone else will see it as 100% perfect.

2 | It's okay to batch your content

Batching means working on multiple similar tasks at one time.

Think about all the things you have been posting online? How can you do them at the same time (plan your services, film multiple videos on the same day, etc.)?

At first, it feels like cheating. But, it actually allows you to be more efficient and, ultimately, serve your church better.

3 | Keep your set up simple and easily accessible

Don't over-complicate your recording set up - find something that works for you and stick to it.

Also, find a space where you can keep it permanently set up. That way you don't waste time setting it up and tearing it down every time you want to record something.

The easier you make it to record and post something, the more often you'll do it.
