3 Ways To Not Waste Your Worship Team's Time

Think about when you "spend money" on something. If you spend $500 on something, you want to make sure you're getting at least $500 of value out of it. What happens if you don't feel like you've gotten value? You're disappointed. You might return the item. And chances are, you'll never buy that thing again.

The same is true of your volunteer's time (it's called "spending time" for a reason - it's a currency that you spend just like money). If you haven't done everything on your part to make sure that the time they're spending is valuable, they'll be disappointed. They might start showing up late to rehearsals because they literally have "better ways to SPEND their time." And ultimately, they might simply stop volunteering. So how can you value your team's time instead of wasting it?

Here are 3 ways to not waste your worship team's time:

1 | Get your worship team the resources they need early so they can prepare in advance

Make sure that your team has everything they need to prepare for rehearsal well in advance. The hard part of leading a worship rehearsal is that you aren't the only one who has the potential to waste other people's time. If someone shows up and isn't prepared, they'll waste people's time on something they should have taken care of by themselves before they came. The only way you can overcome this is to set clear expectations and properly equip your team.

2 | Start and end on time

Schedule a starting and ending time. If people are going to be "spending their time," shouldn't we let them know what the price is? Is it 1 hour? Is it 2? Figure out what your team needs and then stick to that time frame. Your team will trust you more because of it.

3 | Have A Plan

The biggest way to waste people's time is to not have a plan. Do you know how you're going to use every minute of your time with your worship team? If time is truly valuable, you need to plan in advance how you're going to spend it.
