5 Reasons Your Worship Team Members Aren't Coming To Rehearsals

Do you struggle with getting your worship team members to consistently come to practice? It can be difficult to know how to handle that situation, especially when you're in a small church and don't have a large pool of musicians. It's easy to blame your team members and simply complain that they aren't committed. But what if there were some things that you could fix that would enable your team to come to rehearsals more frequently?

Here are 5 reasons your worship team members aren't coming to rehearsals:

1 | They're busy that night

If you've been running rehearsals on the same night for the past 5 years, it might be worth asking if that's still the best night for everyone to meet. While it's still the beginning of the year, check in with your team members and make sure they're still available for rehearsal nights. If the majority aren't, it may be time to switch up your schedule.

2 | You don't have a plan for your time together

Volunteers want to feel like the time they're spending is valuable. As the leader of rehearsal, you should have a plan. You should know what you're trying to accomplish. Make sure the time your team is spending is valuable or they may spend it somewhere else.

3 | The challenge isn't big enough

When was the last time you communicated the responsibility your team has to them? People respond to challenges. So reinforce why your team rehearses. In the same way, make sure that you're pushing your team musically. If your team has been stuck in the same place musically for the past year, it's time to push them a little harder.

4 | You haven't set and enforced the expectation

Maybe your team doesn't know that they're expected to come to rehearsals. Have you spent as much time communicating the expectation as you have complaining about how they aren't meeting it? Sometimes getting your team to come to rehearsal is as simple as re-communicating the expectation.

5 | They're burnt-out

Your team could simply be burnt-out. Maybe they've served for the past 5 years every single Sunday and come to every rehearsal every week and they're just tired. Consider if that's your team member's story and whether or not they need a break.
