Keeping your eyes open allows you to do two things: connect and gauge the room.

1 | Connect

Worship leading is like a conversation. First, it's between us and God. But secondly, it's between us and the people we're leading. Here's the thing: when you have a conversation with someone, you have your eyes open and you're looking at them. So if worship leading is a conversation, keeping your eyes open is part of leading well. It allows you to connect with the people you're leading on a deeper level.

2 | Gauge the room

Keeping your eyes open also allows you to see what's going on in the room. It allows you to see what's happening and adjust your leading accordingly.
