Saturday Challenge - Start Your Worship Rehearsal On Time

Saturday Challenge - Start Your Worship Rehearsal On Time

I challenge you to start your worship rehearsal on time tomorrow morning.

We've all been there. On Sunday morning, you're scheduled to run through your worship set at 8am... but people don't start showing up until 8:15.

So, 8 o'clock comes and YOU WAIT... and then YOU WAIT some more. Until eventually your whole team is there and set up and finally ready.

(And then, after your service is over, you hop on your favorite worship leading Facebook group and complain that several members on your team are habitually late.)

Here's the hard truth though: your lack of firm expectations and inability to stick to them only perpetuates the problem.

If you'd like to combat your team's chronic lateness, start with actually starting things on time - whether everyone is there or not!

And now is the perfect time to do it. We're still at the beginning of the year. So, make the commitment to starting on time (not just this Sunday but every gathering you have from now on). But, also let your team know that that is one of your focuses for this year.

If your team frequently shows up late to rehearsals, pick up your phone right now and send them a text that says:

Hey team! Can't wait to lead worship with you tomorrow morning! One of the things I want to focus on this year is being more respectful of your time. I think one of the most tangible ways I can do that is to start our rehearsals on time. So, tomorrow morning I'm making the commitment to starting right at (insert scheduled rehearsal starting time here). See you in the morning!

That message:

1 | Puts the blame on you for not starting things on time instead of blaming your team for everything.

2 | Sets clear expectations of when you're going to start.

3 | Gives you an excuse to start without the people who show up late tomorrow morning because you've warned them in advance.

If you want to fix your team consistently showing up late to practice - this is how it starts!

Before you lead tomorrow, make the commitment to starting your worship rehearsal on time.
