3 Ways To Worship Without Singing

3 Ways To Worship Without Singing

As churches move toward meeting in person again, some are considering not singing during their services.

And honestly, I see both sides of the argument - so I won't weigh in on what I think is the correct choice (because I'm not sure I know the right answer).

The fact of the matter is there WILL BE churches who return to meeting in person WITHOUT singing.

So, the question is: how do you worship without singing?

As worship leaders, we've always known that worship is way more than singing (although, admittedly our actions don't always show that).

So, how can you still worship in your worship gatherings without singing songs?

Here are 3 ways to worship without singing:

A quick definition of worship is necessary. Worship is "paying homage to God" or "showing/telling him that he is worthy." With that in mind, here's how you can do that without singing.

1 | Pray with and for each other

When you pray, you tell and show God that he is worthy of being trusted.

This is the time to raise up prayer in your church.

There is A LOT to be prayed for during this time - so collectively take those requests to God with your church. Lead your church through an extended time of praying for specific needs in your community and the world.

Also, pray for each other. We can worship God by following his commands and time and time again we are encouraged to pray for one another when we gather as a church.

2 | Read the Bible together

Look at Nehemiah 8:

"Ezra opened the book. All the people could see him because he was standing above them; and as he opened it, the people all stood up. Ezra praised the Lord, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, 'Amen! Amen!' Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground."

That's worship. What would that look like in your church?

3 | Serve together

Put your prayer into action.

If your church is uncomfortable sitting inside in a building for an extended period of time right now, go serve together somewhere.

What would it look like for those outside of the church to see the church in action on a Sunday morning?
