Worship Leader, Show Grace During The Return To In Person Worship

There is much frustration to be felt during this period of returning to in person worship.

Listen, this is a difficult time.

But, in the midst of frustration and uncertainty and discerning, don't forget that you are first called to love the people of your church.

See Ephesians 4:2 - "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in LOVE."

It's not a coincidence that that statement comes just 10 verses before Paul encourages leaders in the church to "equip people for works of ministry."

Because here's a secret: PEOPLE can be frustrating sometimes.

But, in this season, we need to be EXTRA careful to show them grace.

Here are 3 people you need to show grace to during the return to in person worship:

1 | People who aren't ready to return to in person worship yet

There are going to be people who don't feel comfortable returning to in person worship yet.

And, whether you agree with them or not, you need to accept the fact that that's their decision to make.

So, don't treat them like second class citizens in your church and only focus on the people who decided to show up in person on Sunday morning.

Love both in person and online church goers equally.

2 | Your worship team

Maybe your worship team is part of the group who doesn't feel comfortable returning to in person worship yet. Show them grace.

Understand that they are capable of making their own decisions based on what they think is best for themselves and their families. Respect their decision and let them know you're excited to have them back when they're ready to return.

3 | Your pastor

You aren't the only one who has a lot on your plate right now. Your pastor is under immense pressure too.

It mostly stems from the fact that there are (insert your church size here) people in your church and they all have a different idea on what the best plan is for reopening.

So, if your pastor isn't quite acting like themselves... or if they seem distracted... or if you asked them for something yesterday and they didn't get it to you yet... show them some grace.
